Description
This product is part of a series of monthly reading log and book response pages. My littles will complete these pages during their independent reading time...they will work with any book they are reading (fiction and nonfiction are included.) I included a cover page in case you want to staple the entire packet for your littles to work on throughout the month! This would also be perfect to put in a listening station, or buddy reading! Students could fill out the sheets together after they read a book together!
For kinder babies, or firsties who aren't yet reading, you could send the reading log home for parents to fill out and students can fill out the response sheets after class read alouds.
Here is what is included in the pack
Reading Log (There are two versions...one for students to write if it is fiction/nonfiction and the date, and one for younger learners who just write the title and rate the book)
{Nonfiction}
Leprechaun Learning-Students write 3 things they learned, and 3 things they wonder
Shamrock Schema-Students write their schema, and then write a sentence about what they learned
Rainbow Research-Students write questions they have about the topic of a NF book, and then try to find the answer
Irish Inferring-Students write about a fact they learned, and their schema...then make an inference
Golden Glossary-Students choose 3 important vocabulary words from the text and illustrate them
Shamrock Search-Students search for NF text features, draw them, and label them
Irish Illustration-Students draw their favorite photograph or illustration from the NF book and tell what they learned from it
{Either}
What's the Purpose-Students write about the Author's Purpose and how they know
Lucky Long Vowels-Students find words for each long vowel and write it with the page number
Digraph Shamrocks-Students find words with Ch, Sh, and Th in the shamrocks
{Fiction}
Clover Characters-Students draw 3 characters, and write about them
Lucky Retelling-Students write/draw about the Beginning, Middle, and End
What's the Problem?-Students write about the Problem and Solution
Pots Full of Questions-Students write 4 questions they have
Clever Connections-Students write about a Text to Self and a Text to Text Connection
My Favorite Part-Students draw about their favorite part and tell 2 reasons why
I will definitely model these for my students before they do them independently. This is a great way to differentiate...some sheets are more challenging than others, and some can be done with just drawing (and no writing).
Be sure to check out the year long bundle!
