Maybe even more important than creating a handbook for your concert program is one for your marching band. In most schools, there will be few groups that perform or travel more outside of school. The opportunities for students to make choices both good and band are exponentially higher in a marching band then about any other school group. Running a marching band without a handbook is tantamount to walking the high rope without a net!
I found that creating a handbook for your program is one of the most important things you can do, to get everyone literally "on the same page." There is always a natural gap of information between director, student, administrator, and parent. A good handbook cuts through the misinterpretations and will clarify for everyone what the expectations are.
This handbook has been tempered by decades of refinement. While no handbook is going to be a perfect fit for any group, this will provide the depth and breadth to make adaptation to your particular circumstance much easier.
There are two versions of this handbook in my store with this being the pdf. I also have a fully editable version in my store in Word if you would prefer it in that format.
