This is a math activity that will keep your students engaged throughout the entire lesson. Students are given a "stash bag" which is filled with mardi gras beads and doubloons. They are asked to use their "manipulatives" to complete a variety of math skills. The skills assessed with this activity are estimation, classification, graphing, measurement, mean, median, & mode, as well as problem solving. This activity is meant to be used as a review for these skills.
Students will also be asked to create a class data chart. They will use this data to identify greater than, less than, and equal to. They will also identify the mean, median, and mode of this data.
Students will also be given 3 word problems to solve. All of the words problems are based upon the theme of mardi gras. This has been one of my classes favorite activities each year. I hope you will consider using this activity in your classroom too! Please remember to leave feedback if you enjoy this product! Thanks!
