This lesson/activity has a few different elements going for it. It involves history including the time of Marie Antoinette. When I taught this in the past, I showed a clip from the movie Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst. I show the beginning of the movie where she is making her trip to France for the first time and she goes through the process of becoming French royalty. After seeing this clip students gain a basis for comparison. The activity allows the students to use their language and higher order thinking skills to compare the year they live in to the year 1766. For the comparison they fill out a venn diagram and we have a group discussion afterwards where students can come up to the white board and write their ideas onto an enlarged venn diagram.
After the venn diagram, students will mad lib a little and then create a very fun dialogue where they can get creative. It's really cool and I didn't want to show it in the preview because that would give it away. For the next lesson, students can present their dialogues. If you have wigs and coats and etc. it would make everything that much merrier for acting out. Don't expect anyone to have that stuff laying around though.
If you enjoy the product please let it show in the ratings!
Thank you and have a wonderful lesson.
