PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Eugenia W. Collier's "Marigolds": Task Cards for Citing Textual Evidence

This resource is a set of 20 task cards designed to help students practice citing evidence to support conclusions from the text, based on Eugenia Collier’s short story “Marigolds.” Skills covered in these task cards for “Marigolds” include: inferencing, characterization, theme, plot and setting. This resource also contains the same questions from the task cards formatted as a traditional worksheet, so that teachers can choose the format that best fits their particular class.

All of the task cards are two part multiple choice questions which require students to first select an answer, and then choose the best evidence to support that answer. Students may complete the task cards in any order, but must make sure they attempt the preceding odd-numbered card before doing an even number. For example, question 2 requires that students select evidence to support the correct answer for question one, necessitating that students complete question 1 before question 2.

This set of task cards and corresponding worksheet for “Marigolds” is a compressed ZIP file that contains the following:

3. A recording sheet for students (1 page)
