NEW 2021 These 35 projects can be used in many subject areas to enhance ocean-themed lessons. They are also currently used in art or maritime museum classes. The ideas here will give YOU ideas! Grades 8-12, adults.

How do I use maritime art?

  • When my students are studying refugees crossing a sea in Zodiac boats, I pull out “Ship Scene: Four Panels,” or “Greeting Cards: Lighting the Way.”
  • In my high school ESL writing class, one assignment focuses on saving sea turtles. In that class, “Rock Painting: Animals” is always a hit. I sit with students and paint a rock WHILE using maritime vocabulary with them. They love it.

When studying maritime or marine issues or events, add these everyday art projects with a maritime twist!

I’d love to hear how YOU use these projects. (And yes, please leave a rating/review!)
