PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this play, Mark Twain speaks with the Gilded Age Presidents using his best weapon, satire. Twain criticizes their policies openly emphasizing how little the government did to protect workers and the lower classes.

Objectives: To review the major accomplishments and events of the Gilded Age Presidents.

Procedures: Read the introduction, assign parts and read the play using a projector. Then, take notes with the supplied note-taking sheet or provide copies to students for review.

Materials: Projector and copies of notes, if needed.

Follow-up Activities:
Divide students into groups for study sessions. Then, provide the review sheets. The group who gets the review sheets correct first wins a class/homework pass.

Quiz: Two short quizzes are included to check for understanding. One is a bit harder than the other.
