Students can complete this Economics Market Day Project while learning about economics or as a culminating activity.
This project involves writing, math, and social studies.
The editable PowerPoint can be used to introduce the project to students. The PowerPoint has spaces for you to type what you would like to share with your students about the different components of the project. I have included suggestions of these to share with them, along with a few links to show them. Please preview these links before hand as well.
There are five different stands to choose from. They are: candy stand, cookie stand, ice cream stand, drink stand, and cupcake stand. Students can work in as small or as big of groups as you see fit. On the Division of Labor page, it has a suggested number of students for each job of the day.
It works well to have students work in groups of 4-6. You can randomly hand out stand types to students or allow them to choose.
There is a PowerPoint version and Smart Notebook version of an example of five of the Candy Store forms (mostly) completed: Products (just shows the products that were chosen), Product Prices (products and prices chosen only), What You Need To Buy (Completely finished), Making Products (Products & Number of Products Filled In), and Budget (Completely Filled In). For the forms that are not completely filled in, you could choose to finish filling these in with your students.
If you would like to send home a form to parents asking them to send in materials for the project, I have created one for you on the next page.
After Market Day, students can complete the Markey Day Reflection papers.
