What's better than getting to know your peers or cross-age buddies over a cup of cocoa? Marshmallows!!
This is a short activity I created to help stem a "get-to-know-you" activity with a winter treat! In every marshmallow, the students will take turns and write one fact about their buddy! On the top of the marshmallow, they will write the topic of the question and inside the marshmallow, they will write their buddies answer. They will take turns getting to know each other and writing their responses. (I also have my students draw pictures of their answers inside the boxes!) Once they are done, they turn in their papers, and the amount of marshmallows they filled in, is the amount of marshmallows they get to add to their hot cocoa! (There are 12 possible marshmallows!!)
My students loved doing this with our Caring School Community cross age level buddies right before winter break! You could also use it with your own students when introducing elbow-elbow, knee-knee buddies, or math partners!
