This page is used to practice the concept of multiplication as equal groups and repeated addition. Students use mini marshmallows to create equal groups on each of the marshmallows. How many groups they make and how many are in each group will determine the multiplication fact that they are representing.
I've used it in several ways:
- to represent multiplication word problems that I've projected for the class
- to create their own marshmallow groups and then determine the problem they represented
- I will project an array and have them represent the same array on their paper
It can be put into a sheet protector or laminated so that it can be used multiple times with an expo marker. BONUS: They get to eat the marshmallows when they are done!
