Students model three generations of aliens as you work your way through this class activity. Review concepts of dominance and recessiveness, incomplete dominance, co-dominance, genetic vocabulary, independent assortment, and probability. Ideas are also included for relating this activity to population genetics and natural selection.
The packet includes a 21-page packet with student worksheets for 3 generations of martians, analysis graphing activity, analysis questions, 3 sets of Punnett square problems (monohybrid cross, dihybrid cross, and exceptions to Mendel's Laws), full teacher instructions, and drawing templates are also included.
I suggest conducting this activity over a period of 3 days to 1 week depending on your individual scheduling needs.
A great way to end a genetics unit and review alot of content in a fun and creative way. Students will enjoy learning and reviewing genetics information while creating each generation of martians!
