Looking for some fun Martin Luther King activities that will also get your students thinking? This week-long packet of read aloud suggestions and activities will encourage your students to be critical thinkers while having fun! You can use the book suggestions I give, or you can just use the activities alone. If you would like to use the books I suggest in this unit, they include:
*Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King! (Students will make a birthday cake for MLK and describe what they will do to carry on his teachings).
*Martin's Big Words (Students will create a poster with the word they think of when they think of MLK).
*My Brother Martin (Students will think of what they could do to turn the world upside down like MLK did).
*March On! The Day My Brother Martin Changed the World (Students will write their own speeches to effect change).
Remember, you can do all of these activities without using the specific books I suggest. They can supplement whatever MLK information you are already using to teach your students.
