Let your students’ critical thinking skills sharpen and creativity shine with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research-Based Interactive Layered Flip Book!

This project is designed for 6th-12th grade and will take approximately 2-3 days to complete.

Students are provided with an editable Student Project Sheet that includes all the resources needed from start to completion.

Students Conduct Structured Research

Prior to creating flip books, students will research Martin Luther King, Jr.’s background, important facts and events, his famous quotes and speeches, influences and obstacles, and self-reflect on his beliefs and dream expressed in King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

The student project sheet also includes a research playlist of bookmarked websites to use. Students can easily access quality resources in order to locate factual information on their topics and to find relevant images to save.

This resource also includes a digital note-taking handout with guiding research prompts. Students will follow a structured process in order to gather facts and relevant information prior to creating their flip books.
After conducting research and completing their research notetaking handouts, students will then design an interactive Flip Book featuring their researched notes and supporting images.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. interactive layered flip book template is provided. All students need is access to Google Slides or Microsoft Power Point!
All project materials are editable! Students can choose their own fonts, insert their research notes in the pre-inserted text boxes, and include relevant pictures on each page. Teachers can also modify the Flip Book tabbed areas and text boxes if desired!

Students Create and Design

Students are also provided with instructions on where to type in their text and how to zoom in and zoom out of text boxes for improved and enhanced visibility.
In order to excite and motivate students, a complete project sample on Martin Luther King, Jr. is also included!

Teachers can display the flip book slides for students to view as a model or print the flip book and assemble the example in order for students to view as a project display!

You can find directions and pictures for printing and assembly in the teacher notes as a point of reference. This flip book is very easy to assemble – no gluing, no coloring, no drawing, no laminating, or any extensive cutting needed!
Literally, all students need are scissors and a stapler! This provides a fun alternative to traditional slides and power point projects!

The resulting Flip Books in this project will be aesthetically beautiful and rich with informative detail as demonstrated in the included example created for this project!
An editable teacher’s grading rubric is included with this purchase.
