This is the second in a two part series of student reading and Common Core activities to celebrate the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This download includes the March on Washington, the Letter From Birmingham Jail, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and it contains 17 pages of student activities that involve: guided reading materials, constructed response paragraphs, true and false questions, vocabulary activities, and multiple choice quizzes to gauge reading comprehension. Every reading topic also includes questions geared toward the 4th and 5th grade Common Core literature and reading standards. Objectives include Key Ideas, Range of Reading, Key Ideas and Details, Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity, Writing, and Fluency. The packet includes everything a social studies or reading teacher would need to cover three days worth of a class. The materials are written at a slightly more difficult level than our fall activities in order to continue challenging the students.
