Product Description
Reading for understanding is the big idea with this lesson. Goals include retelling important facts learned in history. Young students are learning what is important to write down to take notes. This lesson uses text features in the Scholastic monthly news magazine. Alter this lesson as you see is needed for your class. At the end of taking notes together, you should write a main idea sentence together.I believe this method of finding a main idea, helps them conceptualize topics and information read. This lesson is more beneficial for students who are demonstrating a need for extra support, such as second language learners. The class will be more attentive if the same routine is used for shared reading of a Nonfiction passage.
