Here’s a great activity to teach and reinforce the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while practicing Common Core ELA standards.
The four paragraphs included require students to practice their proofreading marks, editing skills, and printing skills as they correct:
subject/verb agreement errors
...all while encountering new vocabulary. The content is suitable for 2nd-5th graders.
In my 2nd grade classroom, I will give one paragraph to each student to glue into their spiral notebooks. Students will proofread and edit the typed paragraph in their notebooks and will then rewrite a correct version below it. I have made four paragraphs to complete Tuesday through Friday during the week we celebrate Dr. King.
The first 2 pages have all four paragraphs for reference and a key for grading. The subsequent pages have multiple copies of each single paragraph for easy classroom copying.
Hope you enjoy this little activity!
