Kindness in the Classroom
Preschool Classroom-Created Book Inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.
This is a book that can be used any time of the year, but a great enrichment activity to be used in January during Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations!
There are many options and different ways to use this book to fit the needs of your classroom. In my classroom, we use the version with the bigger hands. We all begin with the same peach-colored paint. We then add different colors to each of our paints until our paint matches the skin tone of our hands. We discuss how we are all the same but all different. We discuss how Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that everyone was treated kind no matter what color their skin was. We then paint our hands on our individual pages and think of one way we can show kindness to our classmates. You can also use skin-colored crayons to complete the activity.
There is also an option where children can take pictures of themselves performing an act of kindness (either at home or at school) and glue it on their page. You can also just use a picture of each child.
I have included black and white and colored versions of each page to fit the needs of your class. I have also included 2 different versions of lines for the child’s name to fit the needs of your classroom.
There are a total of 8 versions in this packet to fit the needs of your class!
