This Martin Luther King, Jr. unit is perfect for kindergarten and 1st grade. It is a great tool to use to teach about MLK Jr. and Black History Month. We celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on the third Monday in January to remember his work. This activity pack contains several social studies and science resources to use with your students.

Background Information: 3 pages of notes for the teacher on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Fact Cards: 8 half page cards that give a fact and graphic of MLK's life.
Writing Craft: Choose your own writing topic (such as "I have a dream...") and create a Martin Luther King, Jr. craft to hold the half page writing paper
Poem Craft: An original poem can be printed as is or printed to be traced and accompanied with a world with hands shaking craft (example included).
Egg Experiment: A tiered book is included to take the students through the scientific process as you investigate the similarities and differences of white and brown eggs (leading to the fact that eggs can be different on the outside but are the same on the inside - just like people)
