This resource engages students in vocabulary-building activities based on twelve key terms from Martin Luther King Jr.'s epic "I Have a Dream" speech through several different fun and challenging activities. Activities include vocabulary/definition matching, fill-in-the blank, synonyms and antonyms, writing, and a crossword puzzle. There are answer keys for each activity, as well as a glossary for the key terms.
With many word study resources, the piece that is missing is connection. When my students are connected to the words, they become interested and engaged. And as we all know, when students are interested and engaged, they are much more successful. By taking vocabulary words from a resource that students are interested in, this interest, connection, and engagement naturally takes place.
This resource meets a number of Common Core standards in english language arts, social studies, as well as speaking and listening. It could be used in class as a supplemental resource, or could replace your vocabulary and spelling homework throughout the week.
However you use it, I believe both you and your students will enjoy this product!
