Whether studying Martin Luther King, celebrating Black History Month, or learning about famous Americans, the Martin Luther King picture puzzle will present your students with an exciting research goal.
Run and trim the puzzle pieces (you will need a steady hand). Arrange them on the bulletin board using the diagram on the directions page. Then make copies of the research questions for your whole class. After allowing time for research, begin having your class share the answers they have found. As each of the research questions is answered, another piece of the Martin Luther King's picture is revealed.
The 24 puzzle pieces form the picture that is on the title page. Measuring almost 34 inches by 23 inches, the puzzle will motivate students to learn more about Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement. Discussion about this time in our country's history will lead to discussion about current events - the Supreme Court's ruling on the Voting Rights Act, for example.
