Here’s a start to a MLK project that children can customize however they want. It begins with coffee filter, template and black Sharpie, and ends with an added message and watercolor paint.
PREP: Press 9.5″ wide coffee filters with a steam iron. Print out a template for each student and tape filter to front.
1. Trace the black art with a fine tip black Sharpie and then fill in with a chisel tip Sharpie.
2. Write a message or make designs about MLK in the open space with black marker.
3. Paint as desired with liquid watercolor paint. Let dry.
4. Iron with an old steam iron for a crisp finish.
