This packet contains 10 pages:
4 pages (4 passages) focus on MAIN IDEA
-For each passage, they will answer two multiple choice questions.
1. "Which of the following sentences best states the main idea
of the passage?"
2. "Which would be the best title for this passage?"
I have found that my students struggle with this type of question on multiple choice tests because in some ways it is somewhat subjective what the best title would be. Therefore, I included a DETAILED ANSWER KEY that explains why a certain answer is the best title for the passage.
2 pages focus on AUTHOR'S PURPOSE
Students read 4 passages and determine whether the author's purpose is to persuade, inform, entertain, or explain.
2 pages focus on CONTEXT CLUES
Students read paragraphs and use context clues to choose the correct meaning of the word (ten multiple choice items)
By purchasing these three worksheets in this set, you save money compared to if you were to purchase these worksheets individually.
