Let’s Celebrate Martin Luther King!
This is a fun writing activity that allows your students to reflect on the dream Martin Luther King had for our country. The students are then asked to write about their dream for our country. How can we improve our country today?
Directions: copy off the patterns onto appropriate colored construction paper. Select a writing paper that is appropriate for your age group. Take a large piece of black construction paper, turn it so that it is wide, and fold it to create a black jacket that opens up in the middle. Glue only half of the tie on the left side of the jacket – see photo
Glue the face on top of the hair and glue the mustache on the lower part of the face. Have the students add a nose, eyes, eyebrow, and a chin if they want to as well. Staple the students writing paper inside the jacket but leave a little room at the top to attach the face.
