This lesson plan and student guide will allow your class to create art based upon the "I Have A Dream" speech given by Dr. King.
The lesson plan is written for you! Handouts are provided to help organize the students work.
The student guide explains to middle schoolers: What am I doing? Why am I doing this? How will I do this? and provides a place to write turn-in dates, and an easy to understand rubric.
There is a handout for the student to draw their thumbnail sketches based on their observations from Dr. King's speech. They then transfer their ideas to the drawing paper you provide.
Finally, there is an "artist statement" handout which guides the student as they write a short paragraph about their work.
