PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This skit can easily be performed by students aged 8 through 14. There are three main narrators. Other small speaking and acting parts may be shared by other students. It is possible to have parts for 18-22 students, but it could easliy be performed by a smaller number of students. Appropriate audience is age 5-14. This skit could be used in a classroom, chapel, or worship service. Performance time is about 10 minutes. Simple costuming and props may be used if desired.

The skit begins with a brief conversation between two children who are discussing their Halloween costumes, then connects to the other event that is celebrated on October 31: Reformation Day. Information includes:
Martin’s childhood
schooling
becoming a monk
the selling of indulgences
Martin’s realization, after reading scripture, that he cannot earn his forgiveness or salvation
95 theses
kidnapping to Wartburg Fortress
translating New Testament
marriage and family

The purchaser may make enough copies for the actors in their production.
