This resource is a great way to require all students to engage in a discussion of the core beliefs of Marxism and for the teacher to check on their understanding. In this activity, five posters / pieces of paper, each with a paraphrased core belief of Marxism are posted around the room. Then, students examine slips of paper with original primary source material on them (with footnotes to aid in understanding) that correspond to the five posters around the room. Students discuss their slip of paper and then get out of their chairs to stand next to the core belief they believe their primary source corresponds to. Each student then shares out their source and explains why they believe it corresponds to the poster. While there is an answer key - there is still room for interpretation and the activity requires students to engage in deeper thinking. I've used it many times with great results.
