These labels are to be used on folders or bins where students turn in their work (or exit slips). According to Marzano, students should be continuously assessing themselves on a scale in each subject area. Instead of having my students 'show me' what they rated themselves with a show of fingers on a hand, I instead decided it would be more discreet and helpful for the students to place their classwork or exit slip into a designated folder based on how they felt about the lesson and the work they were assigned. Then, I take the students who ranked themselves a 1 or 2 and can quickly form an impromptu small group to meet the needs of my students daily. I can review the exit slips with the students in a conference or small group and give them immediate feedback.
Included in this product is:
-Picture of how I use the exit slip labels in my classroom
-Number labels (1,2,3,4)
-Descriptive labels (Not Yet, Almost, Got it, I Can Teach It!)
At the beginning of the year, I teach the students what each number means. The labels help the students remember, too.
