This is a Marzano inspired learning scale. Included in the file are four 8x10 posters, each displaying one level of the scale.

1: “I don’t understand, it is dark inside this egg, please help me.”

2: “I’m beginning to understand, I’m a hatching turtle.”

3: “I understand it the way it was taught, I’m a growing turtle.”

4: “I can help others learn the way I was taught, I’m a full grown turtle.”


In my classroom I laminated these and placed them in front of the classroom. Also included is a page with a smaller version that can be printed and pasted on index cards, and then put on a ring for individual use. Please let me know if I can customize in any way to suit your needs. Enjoy!
