Here are 6 Marzano scales or Marzano rubrics for 6 math units covering all of the Common Core State Standards for kindergarten math. These are the ideal scales or rubrics for kindergarten because each CCSS in has a unique and memorable visual representation. Pictures help kindergarten students who are emergent readers to actually understand and use these, unlike text-only scales. Many teachers are required to display learning goals and matching scales during math lessons, but many lessons cover more than one CCSS. These scales or rubrics last for a whole unit, so they don’t need to constantly be posted and removed as learning goals spiral through the unit. Each unit has an adult and a child-friendly page. The adult page lists all of the standards for that unit with the wording from the CCSS document. The child friendly page has a leveled scale that describes each CCSS as a simple I can statement along with a corresponding picture to support understanding of the CCSS. These Marzano scales or rubrics list the Module headings for EngageNY, but they can also be used for Georgia Math or any other math programs.
The unit topics are:
• Numbers to 10
• 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes
• Measurement and comparison
• Adding and subtracting
• Numbers 10-20; Counting and skip counting to 100
• Comparing and Building Shapes
