This activity is based on information published by Muy Interesante magazine which indicates that the pet you select can tell others some things about your personality.
The activity begins with a personal pet-inventory and 20-question personal survey for students to complete (in Spanish). Teachers can use the survey results to create a chart, as pair or small group conversation fodder, or to have a large-group discussion.
Then, there is a reading provided with photos of pets and the personality traits a typical owner of each type of pet may possess.
Finally, there is a matching exercise (possible assessment) in which students recall the traits typical of each pet owner. Answer key is provided.
This activity is suitable for early level 2 and up, or possibly with level 1 if the teacher pre-teaches some vocabulary first. I plan to use it as a "getting to know you" activity with Spanish 2, 3, and 5!
