This worksheet allows students to learn about the Spanish attack and massacre of the French colony at Fort Caroline, Florida in 1565. I use this worksheet when I teach about European exploration and colonization in the Americas.
This activity is very easy to use. All you have to do is print off the reading from the following website for classroom use or direct students to the website to answer the worksheet questions:
Students read the document and answer the questions on the worksheet. The worksheet includes 10 questions and has an answer sheet for the teacher. This worksheet can be used to generate classroom discussion or be used as homework. Feel free to modify this assignment as needed for your classes.
For my lesson plan I have my students read and discuss the worksheet. We then examine a short PowerPoint on Fort Caroline that I created.
