Mastering Mindset Digital Card Sort for use with Easel by TpT Growth Mindset

Teaching students to have a growth mindset is sometimes a daunting task. Our “Mastering Mindset Card Sort for use with Easel by TpT” is the perfect way for students to learn more about fixed vs growth mindset. Using Easel by TpT, students manipulate the digital “cards” to determine fixed vs growth mindset statements. This activity goes a step farther than our Matching Mindset Card Sort and has students examine the type of mindset they currently have.  We also include teaching ideas with videos to build an entire lesson around this card sort.

Teachers have been doing card sorts with their students for years.  In today’s digital world, many see card sorts as something old-fashioned and a time that goes back to cutting and laminating paper.  It is possible to bring card sorts into the digital world and engage students on a topic. 

Card sorts compel students to analyze, interpret, compare, classify, make connections, and draw conclusions around topics.  When implementing a card sort in small groups or pairs, they promote collaboration and communication among students, and above all they serve as a medium through which to organize and synthesize ideas.  This card sort is perfect for online, blended, or even in-person learning, especially during remote learning.  All too often secondary teachers are left out of quality, hands-on manipulative resources.  It is our hope this card sort will fill a gap in the marketplace.
