8 Conversation Starters to promote engaging, collaborative classroom dialogue
8 Printable Assessment ‘Exit tickets’
Classroom Conversation Starters are meant to be a quick way to give your students a daily opportunity to think and talk about multiplication. This process helps students to formulate their thoughts and ideas cooperatively and build a stronger conceptual understanding. These are done before a lesson or before doing activities on multiplication.
Exit Tickets are designed to be a quick reflection of your students’ understanding at the end of a lesson and are the same topic as the starter. These are completed individually by the student and submitted for assessment. It is important to note that Exit Tickets are not meant to be graded or marked; they are simply submitted and read by you the teacher. They are a tool to provide your students an opportunity to think about multiplication, as well as, provide you the teacher a glimpse into what your students understand. Use these tickets to help students further their understanding. The next day, during work time, follow up with students that were unable to answer the question on the Exit Ticket or did not acquire the concept.
