Matamoscas (Flyswatter) is a highly engaging game traditionally played on a white board but can easily be played in small groups (2-3). Each group needs one Matamoscas board and either a different colored highlighter or a dry erase marker (if you laminate your boards) for each player. The teacher (or a designated student) calls out a word in the opposite language than printed on the board and the players race to be the first to highlight the correct word. For example, the teacher might call out the word 'mother' and the students search for '(la) madre'.
This template contains 25 words and can easily be adapted to any language or vocabulary set. I have played this game with 6-12 grade students with a lot of success but I am sure upper elementary would have a blast as well!
