Match It! is a partner game similar to “Battleship” that helps to reinforce music symbols, note names, and note values. It can be played in the context of a regular class or as a center.
Each student will place their “Music Town” or staff paper on part of their folder that is on the ground, so the other student can’t see. Taking turns, one student at a time chooses music symbols or notes to fill in their board. Once their board is filled in, the other student must ask them questions to figure out which symbol or note goes where.
This game is very adaptable to include whichever note values, rhythms, or music symbols you are reviewing.
