This activity was created to be used with the book The Grumpy Morning by Pamel Duncan Edwards. The book is written in rhyme and this game will allow students to read and find rhyming words from the book.
Included: game board, rhyming cards (rhyming words were taken from the book).
Needed: 10 markers for each person.
To do: print game board and rhyming cards on cardstock, cut and laminate for durability.
Place all cards in a pile upside down next to the game board.
Each player takes turns drawing a card. If they can find a match on their board they cover it with a marker, if there is no match the other player takes a turn.
If a ZZZZ (ZZZ because the farmer was sleeping) card is drawn that player must remove all their markers from their side of the board and start again.
The first player to cover all the words is the winner.
If you run out of cards shuffle the used cards and put in a pile to use again.
