Students can practice their skills with solving quadratic equations using of these two puzzles. The two of the puzzles have 20 squares.
20 Square Puzzles
• One of the twenty square puzzles has either a quadratic equation or a solution for x along all edges of the twenty squares. Another twenty square puzzle is identical but the outside edges of the large square are left blank.
• You can make up two additional puzzles from the two puzzles. If you take the four corner squares from one puzzle and switch them with the four corner squares of the other puzzle you have made one of the puzzles easier and the other puzzle more difficult.
• Duplicate the two puzzles, cut the pieces apart and give 20 pieces to one student or a group of students. The students are to match the sides of the squares by finding the problem that matches its answer. Students continue to match the problems with their answers until the whole rectangle is complete
• The teacher can check the square by noticing that “THE QUADRATIC FORMULA” is spelled out VERTICALLY BACKWARDS on these puzzles.
