Students can work one problem daily or these can be printed and put in folders for the students to work at their own pace. My students do these twice weekly. I circulate around the room asking assessing and advancing questions. When a student finishes a mini task, he/she raises a hand, and I quickly assess and mark a check/plus. He/she moves to the next mini task. If a student is not correct, I ask an advancing question, and he/she rethinks and reworks. The children love the challenge and the independence of moving forward. These can also be used in small group of during RTI time. These problems are geared toward advanced and gifted students. They are also ideal for home schoolers.
These require constructed responses preparing students for the PARCC. Based on Common Core standards.
