Why review keywords?
The questions on the math section of the ACT often contain keywords that are critical to understand to be able to work and solve the questions. This resource will help students review and gain a better understanding of the keywords so they will be confident in answering ACT questions.
How to use this workbook?
This workbook can be used in several ways to reinforce the math terms. Students can work through several keywords a day leading up to the ACT test. If used in a classroom setting, teachers can use this resource each day as a warm-up, do 3-5 keywords every Friday, or however the review fits within your weekly schedule. To match along with covering 5 keywords/week, I have included a review page after every 5 keywords. This is a page to be completed by the student to help them keep track of their own prep and learning activities. A page for the student to record formulas that they find useful is also included near the end of the workbook.
What subjects are covered in the keywords?
Since the ACT covers all math subjects from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 1 to Geometry to Algebra 2, keywords come from all these courses. Since topics in Pre-Calculus are introduced in these previous courses, the keywords are relevant to Pre-Calculus students as well.
What students is this resource designed for?
The Math ACT Prep Keywords Workbook is design for any student preparing for the math section of the ACT. Reviewing keywords, along with practicing solving ACT-type questions, is essential for most students to prepare to do their very best. It is my goal that the students are also learning the material to use as life-long skills in their careers and life, and not just for testing purposes. That is why I feel this material should be used and reviewed over an extended period of time to help the students “soak in” all the math skills.
What standards are covered by this curriculum?
The resources in this curriculum were developed based on actual ACT tests. One would expect an overlap between ACT testing topics and state standards, but mapping to the standards is not a focus in this resource.
