The skill is adding and subtracting decimals to the hundredths place. This activity allows students practice by selecting food items to add for a meal total, then a day total. They use estimation to not go over their 40.00 budget. I make mine into a bulletin board for open house. It includes a learning target sign, worksheet for calculations, direction sheet, and Sonic menu with prices. I show the menu on my projector to save paper and ink.
Your dad gave you 40.00 for food at Sonic for all day. You can buy 2 items for breakfast, 2 for lunch, and 2 for dinner. Combos come with drinks and fries. Plan your meals carefully so you don’t go hungry. Use estimation as you make your selections so you don’t go over your budget.
Have five or more dollars left without changing your order.
