You can never have enough math worksheets, games and ideas!
If you are like me, you have all different learners in your classroom. Some take longer to complete the designated math lesson and others are done in a flash.
I can see you shaking your head right now...YES, that sounds like my class for SURE!
Well...these math addition activities will support your students to memorize facts and have fun at the same time!
This is best as a partner game but can be used with a small group.
Each child will need their own card and tokens to cover their answers such as pennies, teddies, cubes of whatever you have around the room.
If you laminate the cards, which is suggested, you can have the children use wipe off markers and crayons to X their answer.
Run off enough cards for the number of students playing the game and laminate. Each partnership or group needs one die to play the Doubles Game and a set of dice to play the Addition Sum game, which is sums to 12.
The cards have numbers, which are sums. The student will roll the dice, add the 2 numbers together that are rolled and cover the answer. The student just has to add the numbers together and cover the sum. For example. The child rolls a 3 and 2. He thinks 3+2 and covers the sum or number 5 ( You may provide a manipulative, such as a number line or grid to support learners).
When playing the Doubles Game, the students rolls one die and then doubles the number and covers the sum. For example: if he/she rolls a 4. He/She thinks 4+4= and covers the sum or number 8 on his/her board.
The True False worksheets packets are differentiated. It starts out with easier equations and then the equations get a bit harder. The sheets go up to sums of 12.
The student looks at the equation and decides if it is true or false and then rewrites the equation if it is false and corrects it.
There is a blank sheet included for teachers and/or students to challenge each other with their own equations that they have created or to use higher polyhedral dice.
.I hope your class enjoys working with these activities as much as mine did! Thank you for purchasing and/or browsing. I hope this makes your day a little brighter!
