Want a center that is little to no prep but has your little explorers up and about?
Your students will have so much fun with 'math around the room' they will forget they are practicing and learning common core learning objectives!
The center can also be used as a 'stationary' center rather than count the room. Place cards in baskets and/or buckets rather than tape around the room!
It is a great way to introduce sorting and sorting rules (use the cards as flashcards) and then review (use as a math around the room center)!

Print and laminate cards.
Tape cards around the room for a ‘math around the room’ activity or they can be placed in a basket/bucket on a table for a stationery center activity.
Students look at the shapes on the card and determine the sorting rule. They then look at the recording sheet and color the shape/crayon to match what belongs in the group to fit the sorting rule.
You can also use the cards as ‘flashcards’ to determine a sorting rule and/or to compare/contrast sorting rules.
