In order to make learning addition fun for KG and 1st grade students, this math art activity is sure to be a hit! Using simple cut-out patterns for the bottom of the cupcake, and top of the cupcake for the frosting, students can decorate the frosting with pre-cut circles in replace of the "sprinkles." Students will decide, for example, if they want 3 red circles with 2 blue circles to be added to their cupcake. Then, they will arrange the circle "sprinkles", add them together and write the answer. Finally, they will finish their cupcake by placing the remaining decorations. Both math and art standards are covered in one fun project your students are sure to enjoy!
