Are your students having trouble retaining the math skills they need to be successful? I created this resource as a supplement to the math program adopted by my district. By the end of the year my students were more confident math learners and performed much better on state-wide testing. An added plus – This product requires no copying or prep on your part! All students need is a composition notebook to record their answers.
First nine weeks skills: Basic Number Sense concepts:
Weeks 1 and 2 – Practice with numbers within 0 – 16. Students are given a number, write that number in words, determine if it is even or odd, and write the 5 numbers that come after it.
Weeks 3 and 4 – Practice with numbers within 10 – 29. Students continue with skills above but also begin giving the 5 numbers before the number of the day.
Weeks 5 and 6 – Practice with numbers within 30 – 49. Students continue with skills above but also begin adding 1 and 10 to the number.
Week 7 – Practice with numbers within 50 – 59. Students continue with skills above but also begin subtracting 1 and 10 from the number.
Weeks 8 and 9 – Practice with numbers within 60 – 69 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday begins practice from the Measurement/Data Analysis strand: Time to the hour and coin identification/values
Also included with this resource is a Number Words sheet for students to refer to when writing the numbers in words. (I copy this for each student and tape on their desk.)
This resource is also available in a PowerPoint Edition for those who do not have SmartBoards in their classrooms.
