HOW I USE THESE ASSESSMENTS IN MY CLASS:
Every week, I have a shortened math period (50 minutes) due to my specials schedule. This is my Mighty Math Day. Students first complete their Mighty Math assessment. When students finish, they work independently on unfinished Math Journal pages from previous days or Compass Learning Odyssey (differentiated math website). I will then pull groups of students who struggled with specific skills on the previous week’s Mighty Math for reteaching and practice. I have found that using Mighty Math has given me a deeper understanding of my students' abilities and I can target specific skills that need reteaching.

IN THE KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM:
You may need to modify how your students complete these assessments, especially at the beginning of the year, due to the amount of problems on each assessment and the reading levels of your students. Some modifications might include taking two days to complete, students working with the teacher in a small group, or the teacher reading the problems aloud to the whole class. There are some problems in the Counting and Cardinality strand that require students to work one-on-one with an adult. Students will also need to sort, cut, and glue shapes for one problem each week.
