Your students will love practicing math skills in a game format with “Number Q”! Number Q (refers to the Number/Question format) is an easy, one-time prep game that kids will want to play again and again!
Make several sets so that several groups or even the whole class can play.
Print and copy as many sets as you need to serve groups of 4 students. Laminate for durability.
Cut apart the blue Question Cards and yellow Number Cards.
You may pre-select the Question Cards and Number Cards you want your students to use. They may be more comfortable with specific Question Cards. They may be more comfortable with lower numbers or they may be ready for higher, more challenging numbers. Make any pre-selections before the game starts.
Paper/pencil for score-keeping
Optional: Calculators for checking answers
How to Play:
Place the Question Cards face-down in the center of the table or game space.
Place the Number Cards face-down beside the Question Cards. Turn up the top Number Card so that all players may see it.
Player #1 turns up the top Question Card and answers it as it applies to the Number Card. If Player #1 is correct, he/she returns the card to the bottom of the stack and scores a point. Any player can challenge the answer. If Player #1 is incorrect, he/she does not score a point.
Continue taking turns until all of the Question Cards have been used. Turn up a new Number Card, shuffle the Question Cards, and play again with the new number.
