Students practice ordering numbers by creating a pyramid of cups, including equivalent numbers. This activity can be used at almost any grade level depending on the numbers you use.
It can be used as a stand alone review of ordering and equivalent numbers or it can be used as one of many games in a carnival like activity. My school uses it in a day long Math Carnival that students participate in about a month before our state tests.
This activity may seem easy - and the initial ordering of numbers is easy for students who understand the concept. However, creating the pyramid to still show correct order with the equivalent numbers is challenging for many students, even higher level students.
