It is important for our young students to have computational accuracy and have automaticity when problem solving. The ability to compute problems accurately and quickly will help them achieve greater success in higher level math and problem solving.
This pack highlights 14 strategies to help your students master their math facts in logical, strategic ways.
I first started using these strategies more seriously with my students when I taught a remedial math class in the summer to first graders. I noticed that many students were confused on what to do to solve simple problems. I knew they had been taught many strategies, but they certainly lacked confidence and needed more directions in simple strategy use. These strategies that are in this unit will help your students understand more on what strategy works best to solve computation problems and their confidence and mastery of their math facts will improve.
