These Common Core aligned task cards are ideal for fast finishers, center activities, small groups, morning work, or mental math. There are 9 activities and 130 unique cards.

*Counting—12 cards, EACH card has 4 counting tasks--start at any number and count on. The number range is 0-130.

*Counting strategies—24 cards, EACH card has 4 counting tasks—start at any number and count on by 10s or 5s. The number range is 0-200

*Balancing equations—18 cards, students are challenged o find at least 10 different ways to balance an equation (ie. Find at least 10 ways to balance this equation 33=________). These open ended challenges can be done multiple times in multiple ways.

*Writing problems—12 cards. Each card gives an answer to a problem (ie. 4 penguins); students are challenged to write a problem that leads to the answer. Since these tasks are open ended, students will get a different experience each time they work with a task.

*Multiple Step Problems—these 30 adding and subtracting tasks can be used to build mental math skills or develop flexibility with a 100s chart.

*Train Game: students are given a challenge (Get 2 tiles of 1 color and 2 tiles of another tile. How many different trains can you make.) Students develop background knowledge for future work with probability and combinations. This task invites students to use higher order thinking skills to develop systems and notice patterns.

*Number pattern: Given 3 numbers, students are challenged to identify and continue patterns. These 24 tasks are excellent preparation for multiplication and division.

*Composing Shapes: These tasks invite student collaboration and critical thinking. With teacher guidance, these tasks can be used to help students synthesize their learning. There’s lots of variety in these 12 cards including beginning fractions and geometry.

* Shapes: These 6 cards help students develop background knowledge they will need when they begin to multiply and divide.
