This is the "Comic" template that goes with the "Math Comics" center directions.
In this center the students solve a problem developed by the teacher through the use of the CRA (concrete, representative, and abstract) model. They first solve the problem using manipulative of their (or their teachers) choice, they then represent their thinking using pictures, tally marks, etc, then they solve using an algorithm.
This center allows the students to represent their knowledge in multiple ways. It is flexible so that the teacher can use it over and over with different word problems and the students will still know the structure and expectations.
It also includes time for the students to write about their thinking which takes them to another level of critical thinking.
The directions and sign for this center are also available for free download.
